HARRY HAMPTON HUNTING AND FISHING EXPO will be held August 27-29 at the Spartan Expo Center 6655 Pottery Road, Spartanburg, SC (Interstate 26, Exit 17) sponsored by Harry Hampton Memorial Wild life Fund, Inc. They will have exhibits, demonstrations, virtual shooting & fishing, hunting and fishing seminars. There is something for the whole family! Over 100,000 square feet of exhibit space available and all exhibits are housed in a pleasant, air-conditioned building. Lots of parking, with easy access from Interstates 26 and 85. Do not miss this Hunting and Fishing Expo!
Our customers are catching some crappie at night under the lantern
lights, using minnows around deep brush reports Mrs. C. at W.C.S
BAIT SHOP located at 1365 Cayce Creek Road near Lake Blalock.
Also, the kids have kept the bream and shellcrackers at least
aggravated and well feed during the summer, and they are catching
some good numbers and a few good size ones. Bass fishing in the
area is best early, late and at night. Try Carolina rigged worms,
lizards, or dark colored craws at night for best results. They
have 5 carp lakes in the area.
Its time to get out the old bream poles, bobbers, sit in
the shade, catch a few catfish and bream and keep the kids entertained
reports CHEROKEE OUTFITTERS located at Exit 90 off I-85
(507 Windslow Ave. Frontage Road). Fishing is great and the weather
will be hot in August so you might think about night fishing.
We have an excellent selection of bass fishing tackle and a great
selection of guns. Its also time to start thinking ahead
toward the upcoming hunting season, whether you are going for
dove or deer, and start getting a few items along each week to
make it a little easier on your pocketbook, and have your equipment

Fishing is great for carp and catfish right here at the lakes
report Virgil at CANNONS LAKES located on Hwy 14
north of I-85 in Greer. We are stocking much heavier on catfish,
at least a couple of times every month. We will be having big
money carp tournaments during the summer months and hope you will
stop by or give us a call for further details on the upcoming
events. This is a family oriented business and requires no South
Carolina fishing license. Virgil also has Cannons Restaurant
just down the road that offers the best home cooked meals in Greer.
The big kids and the little kids have been catching plenty of
bream on crickets here on Lake Bowen and in Lake Blalock reports
Steve at HIGHWAY 9 AUTO STOP, located about three miles
below the lake on Hwy 9. Some of the best bass are being caught
at night, some on top water, jitterbug type plugs, and big dark
worms. Some really good white bass are being caught on Lake Bowen.
Try beetle spins or medium minnows fished 20 to 25 feet down.
Steve has a good selection of minnows, crickets, worms, fishing
supplies, carp bait and carp flavors, rods, reels, and a huge
selection of ZOOM worms. Also, he has plenty of picnic supplies,
ice, gas, and new fishing licenses.
Don at KELL CO SPORTS tells us his shop is located at 7552
Lone Oak Road here in Spartanburg. He carries a good supply of
new and trade-in guns, ammo, tree stands, knives, boots, calls,
hunting clothes, scents decoys, and licenses. He always gets a
big JUMP on deer hunting season by going to Bamberg in mid August
and getting some venison for the table. Stop by and pick up all
the items you will need for the upcoming hunting season, whether
it is for duck, dove or deer. Bulk dog food is always available.
Some really good, big bream have been caught on crickets here
in the pond during the last full moon reports Rhett at BROWNS
BAIT AND TACKLE located at Berry Pond on Berry Shoals Road,
off Hwy 290. Some really nice largemouth are being caught on artificial
worms early and late in the day. Some real good catfish have been
caught off the bottom using worms and cut bait. They have live
bait, snacks, tackle, a huge supply of carp scent attractants,
and Rhett can always give you the best, up to date fishing report
for the area. Do not forget about the large selection of carp
juices (450 flavors), and we take special orders for you from
Bass Pro Shop.
Scott at MARINE ENGINE REPAIR located at the intersection
of Hwy. 292 & 129 in Lyman tells us that he works on all types
of outboards but specializes on the Mercury outboards. He has
years of experience and he can give you a quality tune-up or complete
over haul. He does have some consignment boats and a few trade
in boats in stock at great prices.
FULTONS TACKLE BOX reports there have been some nice
bass caught this month using shakey head and Carolina fishing
around out cropping of rocks and docks. The bream are being caught
on crickets, hybrid pink worms and catalapa worms. Catfishermen
are using cut bait and catalapa worms and are catching some nice
ones. Trout at Lake Jocassee are being caught on live shiners
and herring in about 25-35 ft. of water and trolling spoons and
deep divers in 40-65 ft of water. The weather has been very hot
but the fish are still biting. Remember take someone fishing.
Attention Hunters! TRUE TIMBER camo factory outlet is open
and located at 150 Accurate Way, Inman, SC (the intersection of
I-26 & Hwy. 176
Exit 15). This is a manufacturing plant
but on Tuesday thru Saturday the factory store is open to the
public. They offer outerwear, work ware, head cover, face masks,
gloves, packs, duffles, boots and much, more. They have quite
the selection of camo for all the outdoorsmen and outdoorswoman.
You need to come by and check out all the special sales they are
having and some of the excellent warm weather apparel. They are
now stocking Carolina Steel toe boots and Camo Carolina Steel
Toe boots. True Timber has Camouflage so good lookin its
a shame not to be seen. They sell camo waterproof material and
die cut camo blind material by the yard or the roll. They have
a great selection of fishing tackle like Zoom worms, Chatterbaits,
Bandit crankbaits, Rapala crankbaits, Hal Flys, Net Baits, Rods
by All Star, reels by Okuma, Quantum and Zebco, hooks by Gamakatsu
and Field and Stream tackle boxes. They have a great selection
of bows by Bowtech and Diamond.
In Woodruff and Laurens ROBERTSON SUPPLY COMPANY has a
great selection of hunting and fishing supplies. Both stores are
Ace Hardware Stores. In Woodruff they have a huge room in the
back of the store that is stocked with new hunting and fishing
supplies and a great selection of guns. They have the rifles and
shot guns for deer and dove hunting in S.C. Both stores have Fishstalker
bass and crappie fishing baits. On the fishing they have heard
the warm weather means good bream and shellcracker fishing using
crickets and worms.
Diamond D Taxidermy located in Inman on Bishop Road has had a great year. While deer season was busy this year, the pace has not let up a lot yet. Several have had coyotes, raccoons, and an assortment of other trophies mounted. These include a Blackbuck Antelope from India, a wolf, beavers and still in process are several other animals that will be featured next month. We are in the process now of expanding our shop in order to accommodate some of the larger mounts we are being requested to do including some full body mounts. Attention DEER & DOVE HUNTERS! T & K Outdoors is
a small, family owned business specializing in personal satisfaction
for the outdoorsman. They carry a wide variety of hunting and

MIKE'S BAIT AND TACKLE is located at 191 Skinner Road in
Inman (off New Cut Road - 2.6 miles from Hwy. 292) Mike and Jeanine
stated that the hot, dry conditions mean most of the bass fishing
will be early in the morning and late in the evening using top
water plugs, frogs and shakey heads. If you are fishing during
the day, try using deep diving crankbaits over humps. Bream are
biting on red worms and crickets in the shallows. Catfish are
being caught on the bottom using cut mullet, chicken livers and
Docs Dip Bait. The Lake Cooley Bass Club took around 175
kids fishing on June 12 at the annual kids fishing tournament
at Lake Cooley Landing. Thanks to all the businesses and groups
who helped make this a huge success and fun day. Drop off your
rods and reels for cleaning or repair here and Steve at Upstate
Reel Service will pick them up. Practice safety first on the water
and in the woods.
JOE'S LAKE & RESTAURANT established in 1955 has been
newly renovated in the last year. The restaurant is open for breakfast,
lunch and dinner. The carp lake, which had over 3000 Lbs stocked
this year, has daily tournaments and ask about their Labor Day
tournament. The tackle shop has One On Carp & Catfish Bait
flavors, rod stands rentals, live bait and carp and catfish tackle.
The Boykin Spaniel is S.C. state dog reports RAINBOW KENNELS
in the Spartanburg area. The kennel specializes in breeding
Boykin Spaniels from on premises breeding stock that have been
OFA... hip & heart checked. Theyve been raising Boykins
for over 15 years & have become a respected member of the
Boykin Spaniel Society. A Boykin is a great companion or hunting
