DEE DEER CLASSIC
will be held the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of August at the Florence Civic
Center. This is a great annual show with plenty of hunting displays

At IRBY STREET SPORTING
GOODS (843-665-6462) most of the locals are fishing on Santee
Cooper Lakes and in local rivers and ponds. The catfish can be
caught in the Diversion Canal and in the old river bed on Lake
Marion using cut bait, worms, mussels or stink baits fished on
the bottom especially at night. Bream fishing is good in local
ponds and lakes especially around the full moon using crickets,
Flip o Poppie & foster and worms. They have the store stocked
up with the latest and best fishing supplies, and they do rod
and reel repair. For the hunters they have a good selection of
camo clothing, hunting boots and hunting accessories. They can
tune up your bows for the upcoming deer season. They carry Mathews,

on HWY 76 carries all types of live bait including crawfish and
eels. They also, carry your basic line of fishing tackle for the
areas fishing and have the new on line licenses available.
New licenses are needed by the 1st of July. They carry lots of
dog food and livestock feed. Foye says: the fishing in the local
rivers has been good for bream and catfish. They are tearing up
the catfish on live crawfish right now. Try using a small piece
of crawfish tail for bream. They like them too. You can always
catch fish on worm and crickets too. Flatheads are being caught
more at night right now than during the daytime. Plenty of eating
size catfish can be caught during the day in the deeper river
holes. Thoughts are already on the upcoming dove and deer seasons.

Hwy says they have heard of plenty of bream, shellcracker and
catfish being caught in local ponds, Lynches River, Black River
and on the Santee Cooper Lakes. For the crappie try small minnows
or mini-jigs worked around deep water brushpiles. Try some wax
worms, red worms, and crickets for the bream and shellcrackers.
Salter water fishing has really picked up in the last couple of
weeks for spottail, trout, croakers, and flounder. Off shore has
been HOT. The front of the store has an area with plenty of pictures
taken of recent fish caught in the area. They sell both retail
& wholesale & have closeouts on many items with the lowest
prices to be found anywhere! If you are getting ready to go fishing
then you need to stop by this store. This store is very organized

rivers. Try fishing in about 3 to 12 feet of water for catfish,
crappie and bass. Night fishing has produced bigger fish. Bream
fishing will really be good around the full moon on the 18th of
July. They carry 1 or 2 man CREEK boats and have live eels for
bait. Store hours are MondayFriday 8am-7pm and Saturday
6am-6pm. They are closed on Sunday. Its time to start getting
ready for Deer and Dove season! Remember that your fishing and
hunting licenses expire the end of June. Have a safe 4th of July.

ponds, lakes and rivers. Catfish are doing real well on cut bait

good, try deeper water and a slower presentation using live bait.
Local ponds are producing some bream and bass. Bass and crappies
are biting on the local rivers and lakes. Night fishing has been
