water and later drifting will become more popular in deeper water.

On the fishing some nice catches of catfish have been reported
in the shallows late in the day, and at night, go to deeper water

is still great at night using cut bait or live bait. Bream are
doing good biting on crickets and worms around the trees. Bass
are being caught fishing around the trees during the day and on
top water early in the morning. Deer season starts Aug. 15th in

The catfish are biting just off the bottom in 3 to 15 feet of
water at night especially in the upper part of the canal and lower
lake using live bait, fresh cut bait, or worms. Crappies are in
10 to 18 ft of water around brush and minnows seem to be the best
bait. Bass are in the 2 to 12 feet of water. Shellcracker are
being caught in the canal on worms. Bream will be on the beds

Capt Andy of THE MAGIC CAT GUIDE SERVICE (843-332-0421,
843-307-2032, 843-307-0701) is back in full swing. I fish the
upper and lower Santee lakes for cats and stripers. The weather
will be very hot and the fish this time of the year will be scattered.
I will focus on deepwater structure and bait. This is the key
to finding quality size fish. Some of my biggest fish have been
caught in very hot weather and in 25 to 40 feet of water. Try
to locate an old creek bed and good drops. We will anchor or drift
fish depending on the weather. So give us a call soon and book
