HARRY’S “Heart of the Lakes” FISH CAMP has the finest professional fishing guides available for your fishing enjoyment. The lake levels have been good and the water is clear/cloudy, but the fishing is good. Mike said the guides and their parties have been getting good catches of catfish, also try some night fishing for them. SANTEE GENERAL STORE (803-854-2105) located on HWY 6 in Santee is now carrying live Herring, Threadfin shad and Gizzard shad and they hear the summer fishing on the lake has started up and folks have been getting some decent catches of catfish on worms, fresh cut bait, and live bait. The largemouth bass fishing should also be good in the shallows using top water plugs and soft plastics early and late in the day. Stanley at JACK’S CREEK MARINA (803-478-2793) said a few folks are coming in with some nice bream. Shellcrackers and bream are biting worms in the swamp area of the lake. If you are looking for a good place to catch some crappie and an occasional large shellcrackers try fishing minnows on the state crappie beds. Bass will be on the trees in July, try spinnerbaits, plastic worms, lizards, and topwater baits. Catfishing continues to be good using worms or fresh cut bait. If you would like to stay awhile, they have mobile home rentals, campsites and fishing guide services available.

Breakfast is served from 6am-11am and lunch/dinner 11 am to 6pm. It is some of the best country cook’n you’ll ever taste. Fishing around Log Jam Landing and the upper lake has been excellent for catfish, bass, bream and shellcrackers.

W. L. CROMER of CROMER BOAT REPAIR AND CABINET SHOP (803-775-1660) is located at 54 Fort Street in Sumter SC. He is an expert on fiberglass work, boat repairs, and does custom painting with various types of paint. He is ready to take on all boat repairs from a small ding to some major fiberglass hull repairs. W. L. does a great job on fixing and painting Outboard motor covers and camo paint on boats. Larry Cromer of LARRY’S DEERHEAD TAXIDERMY (803-775-1660) located at 54 Fort Street in Sumter SC does Deer, small game animals, and fish. He has won several awards for deer heads from National and State Taxidermy competitions. He is a member of the South Carolina and National Taxidermy Association. Larry says the fishing has improved and he is ready to go catch some big ol bass and bream this month. Plenty of Bass will be in shallow water around trees and pad beds, try plastic worms, spinner baits, and topwater plugs early and late in the day. Bream will be on the beds around the full moon on the 18th of July.
