If you can only fish during the daytime, try trolling the Sutton Spoons 60-85 feet deep for trout very early in the day reports JOCASSEE OUTDOOR CENTER located at 516 Jocassee Lake Road in Salem. They stated the trout are being caught trolling with Sutton Spoons, Doctor Spoons and broke back rapalas from 50 to 85 feet deep. Night fishing down by the dam is producing some catches of trout in depths of 50 feet or more on live bait. Catfish are being caught using nightcrawlers or cut bait on bottom at night. Bream fishing is good using popping bugs and crickets around shaded rock banks. Try using popping bugs, worms or crickets. Our customers are really catching some fish in all three lakes
in the area reports DURHAM’S CONVENIENCE MART, located
at 3210 Walhalla Hwy in Six Mile. Hybrid, striper, and catfish
are all being chased at night or late in the evening when it is
cooler and the boat traffic has slowed down on Lake Hartwell especially
down by the lower dam. You have to go deep for the spotted bass
on Keowee and the trout are also deep on Lake Jocassee. August
is the month to start thinking about the upcoming dove and deer
season. Don’t forget the good hot food, fill up your gas
tank, and have a great time in the outdoors.
A lot of early morning and late night fishing is going on at this
time due to the boat traffic and heat reports PAT’S CASH
AND CARRY located one mile below Salem on Hwy 130. Some trout
on Lake Jocassee are being caught using all types of live bait
and fishing 60 feet deep at night down by the turbine. Also, several
of our customers are starting to get ready for the upcoming dove
and bear season and setting up food plots for deer season. Stop
