THE BUCK & BOAR HUNTING PRESERVE offers quality deer, hog and ram hunting packages that attract trophy hunters from all over the country. RICK’S OF SOUTH CAROLINA is located on Bluff Road
on the way to the Santee Cooper Lakes. They are hearing that the
bream and catfish are being caught on Lake Marion and Lake Wateree
in the backs of the creeks. The bream fishing should be excellent
by the full moon (July 7th) using crickets and worms under corks,
in the shallows in local ponds and rivers. The catfishing has
been best at night using cut bait and worms on the bottom. Remember
Rick’s of South Carolina is open 7 days a week 24 hours a
day and has all types of live bait. There is an ABC store next
to Rick’s of South Carolina.
BEAVER CREEK KENNELS located in the Sandy Run Area of Calhoun
County is owned and operated by Randy and Cathy Hoffman and have
been in existence since 1984. The kennel specializes in Retriever
Gun Dog Training for hunters who want a top-notch hunting companion.
All levels of Gun Dog Training from start to finish are offered.

the heart of downtown Columbia at 1725 Harden Street. Barron’s
is Columbia’s fly fishing headquarters. Barron’s can
outfit you and teach you how to fly fish whether you are going
to the coast for big reds, trout fishing in the mountains or fly
fishing in ponds and rivers. They have years of experience doing
all types of rod and reel repair. Lake Murray is full and Stripers
are being caught on blue back herring fished near the bottom in
the mouths of the creeks in the middle of the lake. Largemouth
bass fishing is good early and late in the day and at night, they
are being caught off points and in the backs of the coves around
docks and blow downs with Carolina rigged or Texas-rigged worms.
Also try floating worms, jerk baits and buzz baits around docks
and structure in the coves down by the dam early in the morning.
The Bream fishing should also be excellent around the full moon
(July 7th), around the banks using red worms and crickets in 2
to 6 feet of water. Catfishing is good using cut herring and night
crawlers on the bottom. Drop by and get a report on the fish’n
around Columbia. Hunting season will be here soon and Barron’s
Outfitters has a great hunting department with snake boots, camo

PETE’S SANDY RUN STORE & GRILL is located on
Hwy 176 at Hwy 31 in the Sandy Run - Gaston area. Opening early
(5:00 am) to serve the entire areas sportsman. They have an excellent
selection of bait and fishing tackle. The warmer weather means
good bream and bass fishing in the local ponds, and there are
some big catfish being caught in holes with liver and gizzards.

SMITH’S “66” AND MARINE located at 1692
Columbia Road, Orangeburg, stated that the bream fishing in the
upper part of Lake Marion especially around the full moon (July
7) should be good. Some nice catfish are also being caught fishing
worms and cut bait in deeper holes in the Diversion Canal at night.
Smith’s “66” and Marine has the Alumacraft Jon
boats in stock, which is perfect for fishing or hunting. They
also have the one and two man Crow Boats that are designed for
fishing in ponds and small rivers. They have a great service department
and they offer full sales and service on Mercury outboards. You

live bait, live herring and fishing tackle. In the area ponds,
lakes and rivers the bream and cat fishing should be at its peak.
The bream are being caught on crickets and worms in the shallows.
The best time should be around the full moon (July 7th). The Tackle
Shop has a great selection of fishing supplies, bait, ice, drinks,
beer, snacks, and more. All you will need for a great day of fishing.

selling plenty of worms and crickets and have reports of plenty
of bream and shell cracker being caught in local ponds. They continue
to hear of some good catches of catfish on cut bait and worms
fished on the bottom. They are stocked up with all types of bass,
crappie, bream and striper fishing lures and have all types of
live bait.
Andy Williams at BLACK RIVER MARINE has a great selection
of G-3 aluminum and G-3 Pontoon Boats powered by Yamaha Outboards.
Their Pontoon boats are perfect for enjoying the water during
the July 4th holiday. Andy, has a good selection of used boats,
you need to come see! Black River Marine has one of the best fishing
and hunting departments in the area. The catfish on Lake Marion
are being caught on cut bait and worms. Also bass can be caught
in the creeks and coves off Lake Marion around docks, trees and
brush on worms, lizards and spinner baits. The bream fishing should
be excellent on the full moon (July 7) in the area ponds in the
shallows using crickets and worms. Andy carries crickets, worms,

ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELK FOUNDATION Midland Chapter is hosting
the 10TH ANNUAL BIG GAME BANQUET July 25th, at 6pm. It will be
held at the Woodmen of the World, located in West Columbia off
Hwy 1, next to the #1 Flea Market. Exit 111 from I-26 and has
plenty of close parking. “Parklane Seafood” will cater
the event. There will be a live & silent auction, numerous
raffles and lots of door prizes. We have lots of hunts, guns,
gear & outdoor items available. Tickets are single/60 and
couples/80. Each ticket includes a membership to RMEF, with 6
issues of the Bugle Magazine, a Browning knife, and a Cyclops
