HADDRELLS POINT
TACKLE & SUPPLY
reports the offshore fishing is doing well with reports of dolphin
and wahoo trolling Sea Witches with Ballyhoo in 120 ft of water
on out, especially around weed lines. Kings are being caught trolling
Ballyhoo or drifting live bait. Some Sailfish and marlin have
also been caught and released. Off shore bottom fishing is excellent
near the shore reefs for black sea bass on squid. The jacks should
show up in the harbor with the warming of the water. Sheepshead
can be found at the jetties and bridges and can be caught on fiddlers.
Inshore fishing for redfish is good in the creeks along the grass
edges on Cajun Thunder floats, cut mullet and in the shallows
using live mud minnows on 1/4 oz jig heads & flys casting
on the flats to tailing fish. Trout are being caught on shrimp
and mud minnows around shell banks when the water is moving using
mud minnows. Flounder are in the inlets and creeks and can be
caught off the bottom using mud minnows. Bream and catfish are
being caught in area freshwater ponds using worms and crickets.
Stop in at Haddrells Point Tackle & Supply for a good
up-to-date fishing report and they will be happy to help you with
all of your fishing needs. Remember now is a great time to get
your reels serviced and re-spooled. They have second location
West of the Ashley at 47 South Windermere Blvd.
At THE ISLE OF PALMS
MARINA you can choose Inshore or Offshore Fishing trips, you
can choose which kind of fish youd like to catch, and then
choose your boat type and trip length. Trip prices can include
all fishing equipment, an experienced USCG Licensed Captain, and
fishing license. Reservations are required, so call now! They
also have custom excursions, harbor cruises, sunset cruises, dolphin
watching, boat rentals and more. The Isle of Palms Marina is a
full service marina with a new Bait and Tackle Store. During July,
anglers can expect redfish to be caught in the deep holes in the
coastal creeks at low tide using live minnows and shrimp on the
bottom. Sea trout will be found around creek mouths and upon structure
during the rising and falling tides. Just like redfish, sea trout
can be taken using live bait such as shrimp and minnows under
a float rig. If a well-seasoned angler is up for a real challenge
and a good fly caster, both redfish and sea trout will readily
eat a fly if conditions are right and their casting skills are
up to par. Large numbers of flounder tend to gather in the inlets
feeding on small fish and crustaceans. Drifting or anchoring in
the inlets and fishing on the bottom with minnows should produce
good numbers of fish. It is a great time to catch large sheepshead
using fiddler crabs around the jetties and bridges. As you travel
father offshore, large schools of tuna are abundant in the Gulf
Stream, big wahoo roam the 60-fathom ledge, and dolphin fish migrate
from the south bringing marlin and other game fish to the waters
off our coast. Whether you are a novice or an experienced angler,
their captains are top notch and will make your fishing experience
one to remember.
TOLERS COVE
MARINA is based
half way between Mt. Pleasant and Sullivans Island at the
Ben Sawyer Bridge. They have guides for inshore fishing for redfish,
flounder and trout. Now is a great time to fish for spot tail
bass on the grass flats on high tide or in the deep holes on low
tide. It is also a great time to fish offshore for tuna and dolphin.
Tolers Cove Marina host some of the nicest offshore charter
boats in the Charleston area: The Bak Bar, Dem Boys and Due Course.
These boats can go out trolling or bottom fishing. Tolers
Cove is a full service marina that offers boat rental and 24-hour
gas and diesel. Check them out on the web at (www.tolerscovemarina.com)
or give them a call and let them take you fishing!

tuna and dolphin trolling the ledge. Recent offshore tournaments
have had good numbers of billfish being caught and released. You
can also have a great time catching bottom fish like sea bass,
grouper and snapper and not have to go far off shore. They are
receiving good reports of trout being caught in the creeks and
rivers on mud minnows, live shrimp, DOA shrimp and Berkley Gulp.
The redfish seem to prefer cut mullet to other baits. Some of
their customers are getting good action with the redfish fly-fishing.
Flounder are being caught fishing mud minnows on the bottom of
the area coastal creeks. Sheepshead are being caught on fiddlers
at the jetties, bridges and the offshore reefs. So stop by one
of the stores, check out the Cajun anchor and get an up to date
report from Steve and his crew.

The CHARLESTON ANGLER in Mt. Pleasant is located
just off Hwy 17 in Towne Centre, next to the IHOP! Daniel Nussbaum
GM of the Charleston Angler Mt. Pleasant reports the fishing has
been awesome recently. The big news inshore has been sight fishing
for the tailing reds in the grass! The tailing tides this past
week were awesome, and there were A LOT more fish in the grass
than the last go-round. A bunch of the guys from the shop and
some of our customers reported success with fish up to 30 inches
on the fly rod. The most popular flies have been the Razmatazz,
Dupre spoon fly, and Mad Mike's Copperhead crab. Spin fishermen
have been getting in on the action with Gulp jerk shads as well
as gold spoons. There has been a lot of excitement recently about
the hordes of Spanish mackerel that have invaded the near shore
waters and the Harbor recently. Plenty of nice Spanish are being
caught in the harbor around Castle Pinckney and Drum Island on
the outgoing tide around tide lines and rips. Huge schools have
been spotted past the jetties around the shipping channel and
around the near shore reefs as well. Anglers tossing Deadly Dick
spoons and gold Acme Kastmasters have reported lots of success.
The big spadefish have moved in on the near shore reefs and are
being caught using jelly balls and even fresh cut shrimp. The
top water trout bite has been excellent early in the morning recently,
particularly when there are smaller morning tides and clearer
water. Hot trout baits have been the new Sebile Bonga Minnow
and the Super Spook Jr. The offshore dolphin bite is on right
now in 130 to 400 feet of water. This has been a great year for
big dolphin, and there should be plenty of big bulls around through
the month of June. Some nice wahoo are being taken on the ledge
on Ilanders over ballyhoo fished deep on planers. Out in the
deeper water, the billfish bite has been steady, with plenty of
blues, whites, and sails released in recent weeks. The king mackerel
are everywhere right now; from the beach all the way out to about
40 miles offshore. The best bite right now is on live bait fished
in 90 to 120 feet of water.
GRAND OPENING The Archery Shop II is now open at 1161 Cainhoy Road in Wando on Daniel Island at Coastal Firearms.
